It's time for a Web Site! Vote!

Hey, loyal bloggites! now's the time to have your 2 cents registered in my newest endeavor.

Having decided to name my newly purchased practice "Newmarket Dental," I'm working on the website.

(note: I realize Newmarket Dental exhibits all the creativity of Tarzan and Jane calling thier son "Boy," but I think for purposes of Google -ing, it might be best!)

SOOOO, www.newmarketdental.com is not available. we even tried to inquire to buy it but no response. hm.

I've considered newmarketsmiles.com, newmarketteeth.com, newmarketnhdental.com (awkward!), and even dentistinnewmarket.com, which one friend advised sounded creepily like an online personal ad..... "SWM dentist in newmarket, ISO friendly, educated "assistant." Must be proficient with suction. Non-flossers need not reply..."

anyway, we shouldn't go there, should we.... Anyhoo, we've settled on newmarketdds.com (which keeps the oh-so-popular Dot Com!) orrrr newmarketdental.net.

www.newmarketdds.com

www.newmarketdental.net

there ya go. Let me know what you guys think!

I vote www.newmarketdental.net! Easier to remember. People are more familiar with .net than with DDS.

Hi Dr. Nate! I vote for the dds.com. It has a nice ring to it and those .nets and .orgs always throw me off.

Tell Rachel 'hi' for me! She's a graphic designer now? How brilliant! Seriously, that makes so much sense!

holycraponnastick! It's Kim Traynor! Hi kim! Wow. wowzer wow; rach will be soooo psyched to hear 'bout you....

hmmmm. i think i would go with .net .... people dont know what DDS is for the most part. My name is Molly by the way. Dont think I remember you....those first 2 years were a bit of a blur though. Even if we met, it probably got lost amongst Dr. Clarks neuroanatomy lectures and Kerby's obnoxious crown prepping courses.

i'm going with dds.com

but i do like newmarketsmiles.com the best.

what about drnate.com?

in response - thanks guys! it's currently 3-2 .net to .com, if you add rachel (.net) jess (.com) it's 4-3...i'll ask all the guys at breakfast joint downtown....

hank - as for the smiles...well, i just always felt that puts an esthetic focus on things and i think that in turn detracts from the FUNCTIONAL part of teeth; i don't have a problem doing esth stuff but I dont' want to tip peoples' perceptions at all, ya know?

as for drnate.com, it's taken, i think by a chiropracter somewhere. also, i'm trying to keep the practice id separate from ME so it isn't in fact just "Dr Swanson's Dental Office"....and i'd like the name of hte practice to correlate w/ the website, i guess.

Molly - hey, I'm sure i know you; le me go find a directory....ah yes. ta dah!

Haha....interesting is a good way to describe them I guess. I did like Amber and Kent, didnt talk to them much but they were always nice. Lets see...in your class I was friends with Ryan Anderson. I lived at the psi o house with him. Havent talked to him since graduating but he was cool. yep, our boards went missing. That was a joke. Never did find out what really happened. I was soooo pissed. Just wanted to get that damn thing over with.

Nate, focus....I'm think the dds.com is better. Neither of them are perfect, but the website will not be a huge factor in your marketing. We'll still have you coming up on searches and many people will be reading off a business or appointment card. I think .net just starts people thinking about how .com wasn't available and I know I personally have a subconscious predjudice against them.

I've always known what a dds is and most of our friends agree, but Dr. Batt says that's cause they are educated. One thing you don't want to do is throw something out because you think uneducated people don't know what it is. Doesn't matter...it's not like they need to know that to find you online.

Oooh, I like hankwillisdds's idea of newmarketsmiles.com. Not one of your options, but better!

Nate,
Don't get me wrong, you know I"m basically in the same camp as you when it comes to "esthetic/cosmetic" dentistry.

Then how about these suggestions:

newmarketfunctionalocclusion.com

newmarketdentistry.com

actually, why limit it to just teeth? you can diagnose and treat non-dental oral/facial conditions.

newmarketoralhealth.com

newmarkethardandsoftoraltissues.com

:)
